Overview
Join us for a day, half day or full weekend of birding in the scenic County of Gloucestershire.We typically expect to see over 100 species during a weekend of Winter birding.
You can meet up or be picked up locally for our organised and guided events for small groups (large groups can be catered for contact us for details). Select from an arrival on Thursday or Friday evening to a Sunday evening departure (or an individual itinerary at any time can be organised). We can arrange all levels of quality accommodation from hostel/bed and breakfast to a five star hotel in excellent and convenient locations and will pick you up and drop you off if you wish.
Alternatively you can join us during the weekend for a specific itinerary from a half day onwards. We are very flexible.

Winter WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre
Over 30,000 birds spend the winter here and the spectacle is amazing. European White-fronted Goose and many other goose species occur in small numbers including wild continental Greylag Geese, Greenland White-fronted, Tundra Bean Goose, Dark-bellied Brent, Eastern Greylag, Pink-footed Goose although Red-breasted, Light-bellied Brent and Lesser White-fronted Goose have all occurred.A flock of 200-300 Bewick’s (Tundra) Swans flight into the Rushy to roost in the afternoons to meet us for a feed along with 1500-2500 other birds. A floodlit event is also offered in the evening to see these magnificent birds priced at £5.00.
Winter specialities include Yellow-legged Gull, Spotted Redshank, Little Stint, Water Rail, Cetti’s Warbler, Peregrine and in recent years a Temminck’s Stint.
Winter Forest of Dean
A full day out for Grey Wagtail, Goosander, Mandarin, Dipper, Siskin, Lesser Redpoll, Raven, Jay, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Coal, Marsh and Willow Tits, Brambling, Crossbill, Hawfinch, Goshawk, Green, Great-spotted and possibly Lesser-spotted Woodpeckers. We also stand a chance of seeing Wild Boar, Red and Fallow Deer.Other sites used...
Winter Sharpness Docks/Berkeley Power Station
We can spend an hour or so to look for Black Redstart, Rock Pipit, Tree Sparrow and possibly wintering Common Sandpiper.
Frampton on Severn
The pools and canal side marshes are good for gulls, waders and many other species during the winter.
Winter Cotswold Water Park
The hundreds of gravels pits and pools are home to many species, Britain’s only resident naturalized flock of Red-crested Pochard which can number over 100 occur and Smew can be found every winter, CWP is one of the best sites in England for them. Goosander, Goldeneye and diving duck including the odd rare or scarce waterbird like Ferruginous Duck or Scaup and Great White Egret can be found. Grebes often feature with Red-necked and Black-necked seen in previous recent winters. Chiffchaff, Siskin and Lesser Redpoll all winter, Green Sandpiper, Little Egret and Barn Owl sometimes hunt in daytime. Over a hundred gravel pits are in this area many of them support large numbers of wildfowl.
Winter Cleeve Hill/High Cotswolds
This is a good area for Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer, Grey Partridge, Tree Sparrow, Short-eared Owl and Stonechat.
Winter Coombe Hill GWT or Ashleworth Ham GWT
The only wintering area in Gloucestershire for Whooper Swan the seasonal floods are home to wildfowl and often attract other desirable species.Typical Pricing
